buySAFE Founder Appointed to Virginia's Joint Commission on Technology & Science Cybercrimes Advisory Committee

(www.buysafe.com), the leading online trust and safety company for e-commerce transactions, today announced that the company’s founder, Steven Woda, was appointed to the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Joint Commission on Technology & Science Cybercrimes Advisory Committee. Created by the 1997 Virginia General Assembly as a permanent legislative agency, JCOTS is charged to generally study all aspects of technology and science and to stimulate, encourage, promote, and assist in the development of technology and science in Virginia through sound public policies. Each year, the Commission, comprised of 12 legislators, identifies key issues of importance to the State and forms advisory committees to study each topic. The committees in turn issue reports and recommendations, including legislative policies.

The focus for this year’s committee is computer trespass and cell phone spam. Mr. Woda’s appointment is for the 2006 interim.
